Albums of the Year 2017 No.1: Creeper - Eternity, In Your Arms

And here it is. My No.1 album of the year! It would be easy to dismiss this as a pop album on the spoken word introduction from Ellie Price from fellow Southampton band Signal. But it is far from it. Creeper fall into the horror rock genre which I will confess is not a genre I have generally explored in the past. I know of Misfits but they are not really a band I have listened to and looking at the list on Wikipedia of other bands in the genre the only other one I actually have heard of is AFI. I love this album. There was something about Creeper that I loved when I saw them at Download and on returning was quick to check out their debut album. The band have stated Alkaline Trio and AFI as influences and it definitely comes across. There is a lot of energy in this album and a lot of anthemic tracks. It is easy to see why Creeper have picked up awards for best new band in 2017. I hope there is a lot more to come from these guys!
